Reducing Your Waste:
In September 2011 Regulation 12 of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 duty came into force, stating that any business involved in the management of waste must take all reasonable measures to apply the waste hierarchy.
This prioritises preventing waste in the first instance.
To adopt the cliché ‘one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure’, items such as furniture can be distributed to those in need via the following website: www.uk.freecycle.org
Any unused paint can be donated to a local charity: www.communityrepaint.org.uk
Any Waste Electrical and Electronic Equiptment that is still in working order can be donated to The British Heart Foundation and collected free of charge: www.bhf.org.uk/test/van-collection
There are numerous charities and organisations that will either collect your unwanted clothing or provide local banks for donations.
