Green Apple Award
Eco Waste & Recycling Wins Green Apple Award
On the 11th November at the Houses of Parliament Eco Waste and Recycling was awarded the UK Silver Winner in the Science and Technology Sector at the Green Apple Awards 2013!
In 2012 Eco Waste reached the finals of the Archant Herts & Cambs Green Awards, and through this received a nomination for The Green Apple Awards which is a national competition. Eco Waste and Recycling excelled on the night, achieving the silver award for Science and Technology. Adam Wake, the director of Eco Waste, attended the ceremony and was presented the award by Miss Green UK (pictured). The Green Apple Awards are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that strengthen the environment and there were more than 500 nominations this year overall; so to get this prestigious award Eco Waste have really succeeded!
Eco Waste and recycling is located in Newnham - just outside Baldock, who operate a recycling centre and local skip hire company. Only recently founded Eco Waste has achieved a significant reduction in the amount of local waste being sent to landfill alongside increasing recycling rates. We were selected as the silver winner for our "unique waste reporting system from which we can track, record and report the waste from every skip that is hired from us and every tip into our transfer station." Adam also said "Eco Waste understands the needs of our customers big and small, domestic and commercial. We know that our customers not only want to see that the waste they produce is being recycled, but also how it is being recycled and what values are going to landfill. With our Industry unique validation and reporting process we track and record the waste from every skip and tip we handle. Every single piece of waste is validated, tracked and a report produced. With larger construction sites and commercial organisations we can review these reports and offer measures for recycling, segregation and separation before the waste is removed. By doing this we reduce the amount of time it takes to separate the waste at our recycling centre which in turn reduces costs which we pass on to our customers and clients. We also report on every single skip that is hired so if you are a domestic customer ordering a single skip you will receive the same report on how your waste has been recycled. The software system means we can increase our recyclites and reduce the risk of waste being sent to landfill that may be recycled."
